Purposes of benchmarking tools are not only limited to performance or load testing use. At EA/Pogo we use benchmarking tool such as JMeter to test graceful system failover, server graceful restart, load balancing, distribution caching, memory leaks and more. Also to help execute functional testing of some complex feature in our Pogo site, for example in our Friends List page our maximum allow friends is 200 and to test this manually our tester will have to run this transaction 200 times. The same for our Guestbook feature where each account has a limitation of 100 posts per day. Where performance/load test tools can help us quickly regresses to achieve testing these limitations and ensure feature completeness.
